On February 28, 2022, the online workshop Resilience of small farms in the North-East Development Region of Romania was held, organized by the Institute of Economic and Social Research “Gheorghe Zane” (I.C.E.S.) – Romanian Academy Iași Branch in collaboration with the Institute of Agrarian Economics (I.E.A.) – I.N.C.E. Bucharest – Romanian Academy and the County Agriculture Directorate (D.A.J.) Iași.
The event is part of the dissemination and transfer of research results activities within I.C.E.S. and I.E.A. to stakeholders in the agri-food system of the North-East Development Region of Romania. Detailed program
Information was presented regarding:
- the SURE-Farm project:Towards sustainable and resilient agricultural systems in the European Union: objectives, research, results – Romanian case study: North-East Region;
- association and cooperation in agriculture – determinant of increasing the resilience of the agri-food system;
- improving the resilience of farms by accessing European and national funds;
- international projects within the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme that have connections to farm resilience (presentations were made by their coordinators in Romania);
– MIXEDproject: Development of efficient and resilient mixed agricultural and agro-forestry systems (coordinator Camelia Gavrilescu);
– SHERPAproject: Iași regional multi-actor platform – support for resilient market integration of small and medium-sized agricultural producers (coordinator Monica Mihaela Tudor);
– project Cities2030: Support for the integration of small farmers into the food system of Iași Municipality (coordinator Codrin Dinu-Vasiliu);
– project BIOEASTsUP: Bioeconomy – strategic direction for a resilient agricultural system (coordinator Dan Marius Voicilaș).
The workshop was interactive, with discussions on the challenges facing the Romanian countryside and the solutions to these challenges. Researchers from the organizing institutes, the Research Institute for Agricultural Economics and Rural Development, the Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences “Gheorghe Ionescu-Şişeşti” (A.S.A.S.), representatives of the D.A.J. Bacău, Iași and Neamț, some Local Action Groups from Vaslui County, the Research and Development Station for Cattle Breeding – Dancu and doctoral students who work in higher education in the field participated.
