Department for Psychology and Educational Sciences
Research Team
Department Description
The Psychology and Educational Sciences Collective is currently engaged in the study of the most important topics in the field: the science of the mind, the brain and human behavior. The researchers of this collective develop both theoretical and practical topics, with the aim of highlighting both the intrapersonal interest in human activity and the educational utility of the researchers’ results. Predominantly fundamental and theoretical research, the collective’s activity develops current theories in the field of psychology and educational sciences such as: the theory of identity and social identification, theories of the dynamic functioning of the relationship between the psyche and the brain, theories of creativity, theories of the role of cognitive schemas, educational theories of motivation, self-realization, the educational ideal, as well as their impact from an educational point of view.
The research carried out within this collective focuses on five major research themes, but they also have an interdisciplinary approach: the neuroscientific perspective on the social dimension of the human brain; gender psychology – gender identity and gender stereotypes; cognitive theories of problem solving and creativity; philosophy of education; social identity and forms of social identification. All these topics are carried out in the institute’s research program, Fundamental themes and ideas in psychology and educational sciences.
The contributions of the researchers in the collective are also visible in the activity of disseminating research results and recognizing the good quality of research at local, national and international levels. All members of the collective organize regular national and international scientific events, organize workshops for the development of practical skills in research and participate in international scientific events.
ICES-2 PROGRAM: FUNDAMENTAL THEMES AND IDEAS IN PSYCHOLOGY AND EDUCATIONAL SCIENCES
Program Objective: Investigation of concepts and theories in psychology and educational sciences with broad academic importance and utility for personal and social development.
Hypotheses/Premises: To the extent that it stimulates, supports and optimizes human potential, enhances the quality of life and contributes to the achievement of individual and social goals and aspirations, development is one of the most important goals worth pursuing in personal and social life. Research in the field of psychology and educational sciences, as well as in related disciplines (communication sciences, neuroscience, cognitive sciences, etc.), can and must fundamentally contribute to clarifying the mechanisms of development and to the efficient implementation of specific techniques and methods.
