Department Description
The Department for Research on Digital Discursive Technologies (DDT) carries out theoretical and applied research activities in the following scientific fields: Digital Culture and Anthropology, Critical Theory of Photography and Anthrozoology. In addition to research activities, DDT also carries out support activities for the development and maintenance of the digital infrastructure of the Romanian Academy, Iași Branch or for the training of human resources in the use of digital technologies.
ICES-3 PROGRAM: INDIVIDUAL, CULTURE AND SOCIETY IN THE ERA OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES
Program Objective: Investigating the main challenges, benefits, trends, processes and ideological, cultural and social transformations specific to the era of digital technologies, in order to understand them as adequately as possible and to identify the best policies or strategies to solve/improve/capitalize on them.
Hypothesis/Premises: The digital revolution is an emblematic phenomenon of contemporary society. It involves both a series of benefits and a series of challenges, trends, processes and ideological, cultural and social transformations. Researching these dimensions and coordinates of the digital revolution is useful both for the adequate understanding of contemporary society and other phenomena characteristic of it (such as socio-economic integration/globalization), and for identifying the best policies or strategies for solving/improving/taking advantage of the challenges/disadvantages/benefits of the digital revolution.
