Sustainable agri-food systems and rural entrepreneurship

Sustainable agri-food systems and rural entrepreneurship are essential pillars of European policies for building a sustainable and prosperous future for rural communities. Nowadays, in the face of challenges related to climate change, food security and equitable economic development, it is crucial to develop and promote sustainable agricultural and food practices. These practices not only protect the environment and natural resources, but also contribute to increasing the resilience of rural communities, improving the quality of life and stimulating innovation and creativity in the local food sector.

Rural entrepreneurship is an important driver in this transformation, offering opportunities for economic and social development, by promoting local products, rural tourism and diversifying economic activities in rural areas. The central objective of this scientific event is to understand, deepen and promote sustainable agri-food systems and local entrepreneurship, essential elements for building a prosperous and equitable future for rural communities.

Representatives from academia, entrepreneurship, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and public administration are invited to participate in the debate, to address theoretical and practical aspects of rural areas in the context of new transformations of agri-food systems, as well as the regional business environment. We look forward to your views within the scientific event, summarized in a title of intervention and a short abstract, by June 3, 2024.

We hope for a generous exchange of ideas and offer you the possibility of publishing the materials in full in Romanian, subject to a review process, in the collective volume Agro-Economy and Rural Anthropology, in a digital ebook version, published by the Cluj University Press (recognized by CNCSIS). Full-text materials received by 03.06.2024 will be published, after review, in this year’s volume, materials received after this date will be directed to the 2025 volume.
