The scientific community warns that the multitude of current crises and their intricacies, as well as the complexity of the world in which we live, make it impossible to solve the current challenges (climate change, social inequalities, quality of life and mental health problems, the crisis of moral values) in a timely and local manner. Palliative solutions, which have treated the symptoms of these crises, have already proven their inefficiency. Sustainable approaches are required that can only be obtained by changing the causes that generated these systemic crises. Academic institutions are making the investigation of existential risks (natural and anthropogenic) a priority in research.

What is required is a radical change in the paradigm of consciousness, in the way in which the nature of reality and human nature are understood and interpreted, the values, principles and norms that underlie the relationship between man and nature, between individuals and their social environment, between societies and cultures. The symposium to which we invite you to participate proposes a multi- and interdisciplinary analysis of how a reinterpretation of the nature of consciousness, in general, and of the brain-mind-consciousness relationship, in particular, can constitute the basis of a reconstructive approach to human civilization, of the perennial values that can ensure its development.
