Documentation internship offered for a fellow researcher from Ukraine

The “Gh. Zane” Institute for Economic and Social Research of the Romanian Academy – Iași Branch is pleased to host Khrystyna Velychko, a young researcher from Ukraine, for a 3-month documentation internship, with the possibility of extension, on the topic “Social analysis of the phenomenon of the establishment of minority groups in Romania”. Within the theme studied during the internship, Krystyna Velychko will prioritize investigating the needs of children and families migrating from Ukraine from the perspective of healthy psychological and community development. A doctoral candidate at the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Sciences, “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, in the field of social sciences, Krystyna Velychko is working on a thesis on relations in minority groups, while at the same time being voluntarily involved in managing the phenomenon of migration of children and their families caused by the war in Ukraine. The documentation internship at the Institute of Economic and Social Research “Gh. Zane” is funded by the Save the Children Organization, Iași Branch.

We are fully convinced that Ms. Khrystyna Velychko’s support in this endeavor will make a significant contribution to the implementation of the policy of the Institute of Economic and Social Research “Gh. Zane” in terms of exploring and understanding the migration phenomenon and its effects (especially for the emigrant population). We also hope that, by supporting Ms. Khrystyna Velychko, we respond, even if only symbolically, to the moral obligation of solidarity with researchers from Ukraine and of supporting them, to the extent possible, in developing a professional path that is as appropriate as possible and less affected by the current political context.

We would like to thank researchers Aurora Hrițuleac, Cristina Maria Tofan and Liviu Adrian Măgurianu for their efforts to integrate Khrystyna Velychko into the Psychology and Educational Sciences Collective, as well as the Iași Branch of the Save the Children Organization and the Iași Branch of the Romanian Academy for the support provided in this endeavor!
