Workshop Theoretical References and Statistical Methods for Testing Moderation in Psychosocial Research
The abundance of empirical literature at the international level, as well as the need to comprehensively test psychological processes and social interaction, necessitate the use of complex data analysis strategies.
This workshop aims to provide a theoretical and practical presentation of the tools necessary for such data analysis strategies such as: research methods used, types of design, formulation of research hypotheses, appropriate data analysis programs, stages in hypothesis testing. For concrete example, the case of moderation in psychosocial research is presented and the following data analysis strategies are analyzed:
- classical stages of moderation testing (Baron & Kenny, 1982; Kenny, 2018);
- specific conditions for moderation testing (Preacher & Hayes, 2004; Hayes, 2022);
- structural equation model for moderation testing (Byrne, 2016);
- polynomial regression model for congruence analysis (Edwards, 1995);
- moderation in meta-analysis (Borenstein, Hedges, Higgins & Rothstein, 2009).
